It’s been a year. Well, more than a year. Hey, things take time. Whether you’re perfecting your technique or planning a party… things take time — and this time was well spent! We’d like to start by thanking our Big Bro (everyone’s Big Bro really), Big Brother Dave Choi for organizing this party. Without him, this may actually have never happened ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

We’ve been very fortunate to see our community become larger, stronger, and even more passionate over the last year. Our roots continue to grow deeper within our local communities of Bushwick and Bedstuy. Which is why we are so thrilled to be hosting our One Year Anniversary at Bushwick’s Three Diamond Door right by Maria Hernandez Park.

This party is our chance to celebrate Masterskya, the vision behind it, and all of you — our community. As we said in our very first blog post, Welcome to the Workshop: Growing Strong to Reach Our Vision’s Heights, “Your commitment to building this community with us is what makes it possible for us to keep our prices so low — and still grow.” That statement is truer now than it was when it was first written. We are nothing without the people who fortify Masterskya’s vision with their support, and embody it with their hard work and unflinching dedication to our craft — Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

So before we get together to celebrate how far we’ve come, let’s look back at where we began… starting with a picture from the very first time Alex and Evor visited the space that would become Masterskya.
